Minnesota State Fair 2014

Minnesota State Fair 2014
Todd Swank's Diary Entry for September 7, 2014

So we wanted to go to the Minnesota State Fair this year, but thought maybe it would be less crowded if I took a vacation day and go on the Wednesday before Labor Day weekend instead of a weekend day.  It didn't work.  It was still really dang crowded.

We didn't really have a plan for places to visit this year.  Instead we just wandered around until we saw something that seemed interesting.  Tanks always seem interesting.

Since he received his learner's driving permit, Luke has been obsessed with getting a truck.  I told him he probably won't be starting with something this nice!  But it's nice to dream...

Avery impressed us all when we stopped by the marines booth and he was able to do 20 chin-ups.  He obviously takes after his mother in the strength department.

We always like to stop by the dog exhibits and see what kind of dogs are on display.  This lady had a lot of poodles.  And since she was eating a sausage and egg biscuit, they were giving her their full attention.

Luke loves the butterfly house and always asks that we go in there.

On the other hand, Avery is not a big fan of Bugs.

Miss Sheri enjoys letting them land on her and then walking around pretending like she doesn't know what to do about it.

We can't really say we saw much new and exciting at the fair this year, but it's always fun to look at the DNR fish pond.

And shooting laser beams at the shooting gallery certainly beats a day of going to school.  Or work for that matter.
