Jet Skiing on the St. Croix River

Jet Skiing on the St. Croix River
Todd Swank's Diary Entry for August 14, 2016

On Saturday, we went to visit our old buddy, Karl Zitzewitz, on the St. Croix River.

It was just Karl and his daughter this trip which was a little lonely for Miss Sheri and the boys not having their buddies Tina and Aaron there.  But we made due.

It was an absolutely beautiful day.  Just right for me to do my stretching exercises on the bow.

The river was somewhat busy, but not too much to get in a little jet ski action.

So that's what we did.  The girls were excited to ride the tube behind it.

While Luke was excited to ride backwards while spotting the tube.

Avery was excited to avoid the jet ski for awhile and just chill on a floating chair.

Karl is a lot braver than I am while riding the jet ski, so I asked him to give me a ride.  I got a little nervous when he started following the big boats and hitting their wake at full throttle.  He says we got about 6-8 feet in the air before we slammed back down to the water.  I didn't have a tape measure to verify his estimates, but that felt about right.

Miss Sheri wasn't feeling the need to get out on the water.  She was quite content just sitting next to it.

I eventually talked Avery into going for a ride with Karl, although he said they didn't find nearly big enough waves like we did.

Luke had better luck as they both said they hit about 6-8 feet in the air also.  They also found a bunch of fresh flowers floating in the river.  Not sure if that's an unusual thing or not.

In any case, Ana seemed to like the flowers.

I don't think Avery ever actually went tubing, but he did practice his technique for awhile.

I think Luke probably should have practiced for awhile also before he went out.  Maybe he would have actually opened his eyes if he would have done that.

I think he was much more comfortable driving the jet ski then riding on the tube behind it.  He made me want to close my eyes a few times while he was driving though.

Miss Sheri's birthday is on Friday, but Grandma Linda is going to be out of town so we started the celebration early with a little breakfast action at Little 6 Casino.  It's going to be a week-long celebration of Miss Sheri!
