Rolling on the River with Friends and Family
Todd Swank's Diary Entry for August 4, 2024
It was an exciting week for Avery and Abby when they closed on their first house in Lakeville, Minnesota. We're so happy for them and look forward to watching them turn it from their house into their home.
Miss Sheri is especially excited that this should mean Avery won't be moving again any time soon. She's had to move our sons many times over the past few years and her darned husband just isn't much help in this area.
On Saturday we went to the St. Croix River to hang out with our good friends the Zitzewitz and the Brown families. We were looking forward to a day of fun and sun out in the water.
Captain Karl always knows right where to take his for maximum enjoyment. I wish I had those kind of skills.
It gets harder and harder to get the kids all together at the same time, so we have to be creative as possible to entice them to join us.
The weather was perfect, the water was warm, and we had a bunch of toys to keep us all entertained. Hard to beat that kind of a day!
The kids all took turns with the jet ski. Usually I partake in the excitement but not this time. I may finally be getting too old for these kinds of adrenaline rushes.
After we spent a day in the water, we sat around and had nice conversations with our friends. It's always good to solve the world's problems while floating on the river.
We topped the night off with a great dinner. The nice thing about hanging out with the Browns and the Zitzewitzes is you know there's always going to be some good food coming at some time.
Pretty soon the sun started going down behind the horizon which made us know our good times were coming to an end for the day. Time flies when you're having fun!
When it's August in Minnesota, you gotta soak up the sun as much as humanly possible. Because we know it won't be long until winter is coming. That's a pleasant thought to end the weekend!
