Vacation in Bonita Springs, Florida
Todd Swank's Diary Update for July 6, 2014
The Swank Family hopped on a plane on June 28 for a week long vacation in Florida!
Our plane landed in Fort Myers and we had a short drive to our final destination in Bonita Springs.
We rented an incredible house for the week from VRBO. You can check out the listing here: http://www.vrbo.com/309409
The house sleeps 9, but we only had 8 people so we were quite comfortable with the accommodations. It was very clean and in an incredible location for boating, beaching, fishing, and swimming.
Joining us for the trip were the Mohar family including my sister, Tracy, her husband, Dave, and their daughters Brittany and Lauren. They're a nice group to sleep with for a week.
The beach was only a block away from our house so we spent a lot of time there seeking that elusive sunset picture where we were all smiling at the camera.
The house doesn't have a very big back yard, but we tried to make the best of it.
Our favorite activity was looking out the window and seeing if we could spot a dolphin. Then we'd scream at the top of our lungs "Dolphin! Dolphin!" when we saw one and watch everyone else in the house run over each other to get a glimpse of the critter.
The kids had a lot of fun taking out the canoe. They also had a lot of arguments whenever one of them would create even the slightest sense of unbalance for the rest of the group. Which happened quite frequently.
The kids also had a lot of fun fishing, although I did worry a bit about the fact that they just might hook a dolphin.
I didn't have to worry though because all they brought in was catfish after catfish. And Uncle Dave just loved helping them take each one of them off the hook!
Lauren ended up catching the biggest fish, although it's not the one pictured here. For some reason I don't have a good shot of that one which is a pretty big disappointment for all of us.
Avery went for quite awhile without catching a fish which gave his brother lots of opportunities to rub it in. Which of course he had to do more than he should have. It all ended when he pulled in this monster, though.
