Cold as Ice, Ready to Conquer 2025
Todd Swank's Diary Entry for January 12, 2025
On Monday night, we headed to Target Center to cheer on our Minnesota Timberwolves. Mondays are usually a slog, but we like to shake things up—because nothing cures the Monday blues like overpriced beers and yelling at referees.
Miss Sheri came to the game with me because, apparently, Monday night basketball isn’t exciting enough to drag my boys off the couch. Lucky for me, I’ve got my ride-or-die who never turns down a night of cheering, jeering, and showing the Timberwolves some love.
Miss Sheri and I watched the Timberwolves face off against James Harden and the LA Clippers Monday night. Sheri calls him "Beardy Dude," which, honestly, feels like the perfect nickname for a guy who looks like he’s deciding between shooting threes or narrating a lumberjack documentary. It was a fun matchup to watch!
Anthony Edwards lit it up, scoring 37 points and dragging the Wolves back from a 19-point first-half hole to beat the Clippers 108-106. The man went full superhero in the second half, dropping back-to-back step-back threes in the final minute.
Naz Reid chipped in 18 off the bench, and Rudy Gobert grabbed 18 boards because, apparently, he’s contractually obligated to rebound everything.
Final takeaway? The Wolves might toy with your emotions, but at least Ant knows how to close the deal.
Naz Reid.
On Friday, we celebrated a couple of birthdays, starting with lunch for Abby, Avery’s fiancĂ©e. It’s always nice to celebrate someone who’s voluntarily joining our chaos. Happy birthday, Abby—welcome to the team! No takebacks.
Next up was dinner with Dan and Jen to celebrate her birthday. Always a fun time with these two, and Jen, as usual, was the star of the show. Happy birthday to someone who makes every gathering better!
We started the evening at Badger Hill Brewing, a solid spot for some good beer and live music. The guy on stage gave popular songs his own twist, which added a nice touch to the night. It’s a comfortable place to hang out, enjoy a drink, and take in the atmosphere.
We wrapped up the night at the American Legion, belting out karaoke with Dan’s brother Tom and his wife Lynn. A few of us love to grab the mic, and it didn’t take long for things to get rowdy. Let’s just say, the louder we got, the better we thought we sounded. Classic mistake.
