A Quick Trip to Clear Lake, Iowa

A Quick Trip to Clear Lake, Iowa

Todd Swank's Diary Entry for February 21, 2021

We had the opportunity to go out to dinner this week with our old friends, Sue and Ron Korkowski.   We hadn't seen them since before the holidays so it was nice to get the chance to re-connect and have some laughs.

On Thursday, I drove down to Clear Lake, Iowa and hooked up with Krazy Kory.  We hadn't seen each other since last July so it sure was fun getting together again.

Unfortunately the reason for my trip was to attend the funeral of my good friend, Scott Barragy, who passed away suddenly last week.  Funerals are always an odd experience for me.  I enjoy the opportunity to see friends I haven't been around for years, but the reason for our gathering is such a sad thing.  Scott was only 51 years old which is way too young to leave this earth.  Nonetheless, it was a very nice service.

Hopefully the next time I get together with these guys is for a much happier occasion.  In any case, it was nice to see them all.

On Saturday morning, it warmed up to a balmy 20 degrees in Prior Lake so Blue and I went for a walk out on the lake.

We stopped at the ice house of our buddy, Dan Walters, to see how the fish were biting.  He was doing much better today than the last time we were out there for a visit.  Blue didn't know what to think about it.  He was so confused when Dan dropped the fish back down into the ice hole.  He just could not figure out where the dang thing went.

I was even lucky enough to pull one in even if it was just a tiny little perch.  I'll take it.

We tried to give it to Blue as a treat but apparently he likes his Milk-bones much better.
